The Westchester County Taxi and Limousine Commission wants our licensed community to be safe and well-informed amidst the community spread of coronavirus disease 2019. In an effort to minimize person-to-person contact at WCTLC offices, our department is operating with limited in-person staff. Essentially, we will follow these procedures:

  • Effective March 23, 2020 and until further notice, the WCTLC service window will be closed.
  • All applications and forms can still be submitted by mail or through the drop box located in the lobby of our office building at 112 East Post Road, White Plains, NY 10601.
  • Driver permits may also be renewed online.
  • Call (914) 995-8400 with any questions or to obtain the status of your application

All late fees for permits expiring in March and April 2020 will be waived.

What do I need to know about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)?

  • Your best source of information on COVID-19 is cdc.gov.
  • Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that can cause mild illnesses like a cold, to more serious illnesses like pneumonia. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that has not previously been identified in humans. Commonly reported symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and shortness of breath.
  • COVID-19 can spread from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The risk of infection from the virus is higher for people who are in close contact (within about six feet) of someone known to have COVID-19. It also may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has been contaminated with the virus and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes. Other people at higher risk for infection are those who live in or have recently been in an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19.

What special precautions should WCTLC-licensed drivers, vehicle owners and operators take to protect themselves and their customers?

  • If you feel sick, stay home.
  • Clean vehicles as often as possible throughout the day with standard cleaning and disinfection products (e.g. Clorox, Purell, Peroxide multi-purpose cleaner).
  • Pay special attention to disinfecting surfaces and objects that are touched often, such as door handles, arm rests, and seatbelts, as appropriate.
  • Consider setting vehicle ventilation to non-recirculate.
